The Tuesday after a holiday weekend always feels a little like we've fallen through the rabbit hole. So, there's no better day to debut this marvelous little gem of a wedding from March of this year {thank you Byron Roe Photography for your quick turn around!}... we hope you enjoy this Alice In Wonderland themed wedding as much as we did {hint: Tim Burton's version, not the classic}. On Monday morning I arrived at the Melody Ballroom with hundreds of boutonnieres and my arms full of flowers. As quickly as I could, I set up an impromptu ceremony site. There were cameras and hundreds of people, all waiting for the largest wedding ceremony I think any of us have ever participated in. We, along with thousands of Oregonians held our breath as we waited for the announcement that the ban on same sex marriage would finally be lifted. By 12:30pm, against the backdrop of our signature Geranium Lake pink curtain, the brides and grooms filed in and one after the other were joined in legal matrimony. What an honor it was to be there, witnessing and celebrating, with the couples, their family and friends, and all of the people who worked so hard to make this happen. And to our friends at Basic Rights Oregon and Samantha Swaim - thank you for always making sure to include us in your important mission. We love you. We are overjoyed and can't wait to help EVERYONE tie the knot {Including my friends Bryon Beck and Juan Martinez!}! *Please excuse our image grabs from various sources online. I was too busy handing out flowers to take pictures of my own. It's not every day that we're asked to do flowers for a nationally viewed wedding like Rosalee and Monroe's long awaited nuptials. And how fun that it falls essentially one week before the {un-official} start of the summer wedding season! We're positive this wedding's vibe isn't going anywhere soon. The director came to us adamant that the wedding not be overly floral {side note: he is also the man responsible for the Steel Magnolia wedding so he wanted to stay away from that look!}. Being in Portland, he wanted the overall look and feel be true to the Oregonian aesthetic... ie. natural, ethereal, GREEN, drippy, mossy, otherworldly... and then he let us do our magic! The scenes were shot back in March and aired this past Friday, May 16th. If you missed it, be sure to catch it on NBC.com or, just enjoy these highlights from the big day! |
