One of the things we love most about being Portland's most trusted wedding florist is that we are asked to create amazing floral for a wide range of ceremonies. In the last few years we have had the pleasure of being the go-to place for Indian, Pakistani and other SE Asian weddings and the chance to learn more about these beautiful cultural traditions. These affairs have been as elaborate as three day affairs and as complex as this dual Indian/ Christian ceremony which took place at the Hilton and St George Orthodox church, a few days later. We have acquired many mandap options, linens, fabrics, furniture, pillows and have even helped with shopping in the bustling Indian markets. Meeting these families and seeing first hand their devotion to family, education and weddings (of course) has inspired us to become "experts" and adore everything about these cultures. Ever since the 2014 Pantone color of the year was announced, we can't get purple {and all tones/variations} out of our heads. Purple is not necessarily a color we have seen a ton of in the past - but don't ask us why! There are so many amazing flowers that come in purple. A few of our favorites are hydrangea, calla lilies, lisianthus, roses, lavender {the herb}, orchids, and dahlias. Pantone describes their "Radiant Orchid" as... "blooming with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health." With an imagery like that, we know we are bound to see more of this royal hue in 2014! Here are a few purple highlights from our past... Radiant Orchid! So lucky and exciting for the 2014 wedding season because this flower is RIGHT UP OUR ALLEY. Check out one of our glamorous weddings at The Nines inspired by this amazing Pantone color. It was also featured in the Winter/Spring 2014 Portland Bride & Groom so it seems there are others who agree with us. Be sure to peek at some of the delightful details and desert table!
